‘Design a Badge for the
Commonwealth Games in 2014’
Girlguiding Glasgow, Clyde Region Scouts, Glasgow Boys’ Brigade and Girls’ Brigade Glasgow are working together to make the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014 a memorable time for all our members. Each organisation is leading one of 4 activities/events, ‘Design a Badge’, An Activity Day in March 2013, a Joint Carol Service in December 2013 and a Camp in May 2014
Our first activity was ‘Design a Badge for the Commonwealth Games in 2014’ led by Girlguiding Glasgow, supported by Girls’ Brigade Glasgow.
Entries from all organisations were judged by a panel consisting of newsreader Kirsty Wark, Bailie Dr Nina Baker from Glasgow City Council and Anne Wallace from Kelvingrove Museum.
Following long deliberations the winning entry was that produced by Duncan Colquhoun of the 95th Glasgow Boys’ Brigade Company based at Cathcart Old Parish Church.
The design has now been given to a team of Graphic Designers who will work to produce a badge that is able to be produced both as a metal and cloth option to be worn by all members of the organisations who gain the award.
Other entries will be displayed during the lead up to the Games at a number of venues throughout the city.
